So were you both pressured by parents into entertainment? Or was it more that you both loved to be in the spotlight?
We are very hard workers. Its fun- we're very comfortable when performing on stage. Seeing as how we do sing and hip-hop dance, we are very energetic performers- we have high stamina! Performing is great experience to us- we love entertaining others, and love to be around people. We are singers, songwriters, hip-hop dancers, and we do our own choreography. On the side we are karaoke DJs, and promotional models. Trust me it takes a lot for us to feel over worked. Music is a love, it's not work. Our parents fully support us- but they definitely aren't the ones who push us to do this.
How hard has it been getting known in Wisconsin??
Well we just had a commercial for the Badger 5 Wisconsin Lottery (where we had to hip-hop dance/ act) and that aired in Wisconsin during the Super bowl- so a lot of people come up to us here and ask if we're the Badger 5 twins! But as far as music connections- then yea there are not many connections in Wisconsin, therefore we travel to Chicago about 3 times a week to perform/ record/ promote and all.
I'm not into this myself, but do you get a lot of guys into the whole twin fantasy, do you feel that you're not taken seriously?
Well guys are guys,, and they will always be guys! We do have a lot of meetings- and we do meet a lot of guys. Even though some may have that fantasy- they know enough to treat us ladies with respect. Lol… cause if they don't- Cory will slap them in their face while Kristin will kick them in their Ying Yang Twins!! No, only playing.
How old were you when you started getting into modeling and singing?
Well we were 13 when we first started to model.... But singing, hip-hop dancing, and working out were definitely our main hobbies- But we didn't go full force with it. Instead we went through the modeling route. Until at age 16, a scout seen us in a Chicago Magazine- and called us because he was looking for a novelty act. He wanted to see if we could sing. We had a meeting- and from then, things just feel into place. That was when we realized for sure we want to go all the way with our music career. And when we put our minds to something- it's in us to take things to the next level.
What would you say is your true passion singing or modeling and do you have any other upcoming plans?
Singing is our true passion. Music is art- and we are very creative girls. There's something about music that never gets old to us. Modeling has a creative edge to it as well- but music just hits us harder than anything else. Our plan is to keep on pushing forward! Meeting that right connection. And to continue songwriting, singing, and hip-hop dancing.
You've both been offered record deals, why wait right now when you have all these opportunities?
We have been offered many independent deals, as well as management deals. As far as the deals we were offered- they didn't seem to legit. We take our music very seriously- we put a lot into what we do, and we know that not every connection is a good connection. We don't want to take the wrong route- and be held back in anyway. We're optimistic girls, but realistic. This business is all about finding that right team.
So you're really learning a lot more of the business aspects now that you're getting well known and getting more gigs, what would you like to tell other young women out there trying to do what you're doing?
No matter how strong you are, or talented you are- you will get hit with negativity. Use that as constructive criticism- you'll only grow stronger from that. No one can stop you but yourself. If you keep pushing forward, you'll only go forward. Also a lot of artist get distracted by competing against other artist. No one is competition- Everyone has something unique and beautiful to offer.
What makes you both stand out, what makes Kristin different than Cory?
That's a tough question. We are very much alike, but there are minor differences! Personality-wise: We both are really quick with our humor- but Kristin would probably be the queen of that subject. She's always cracking jokes and doing imitations, while Cory is a bit more reserved. Look-wise: Kristin has an oval-shaped face, where Cory has more of a heart-shaped face. Other than that- you'd have to get to really know us to see the difference.
Where can someone hear your music and are there any shouts or plugs u want to throw in here?
Our main site is WWW.CORYANDKRISTIN.COM and on that site you can hear more songs we wrote, watch our hip-hop dance clips we choreographed, see our commercial clips, and more pictures of us. We also have a Myspace site www.myspace.com/kristinandcory we would like to give a shout out to Soundtrakk from Chicago. He's one of our main producers, and he's very talented. He creates beats in a variety of styles- and he knows how to capture our style very well! Also shout out to Greg Magers. He's a very professional, talented, young engineer- who lets us do what we do,(arrange and create) yet he still adds his creative spice/ his decorations with the mixing!
Best of luck and much success to you both!
Thanks a lot- and best of luck with this HOT magazine!!
